Gift ideas...

I am often asked questions about what is the best piano on the market.  I am often asked what pianos are solid and what I would own if I won a million dollars.  Well, wonder no more...

In case you were wondering what I would like for my upcoming birthday...

Why Piano Lessons?

In my eight years of teaching, I have read many articles about the terrific reasons people take piano lessons,  I always ask my students why they are taking lessons.  Of course, I have had as many different answers as I have had students.  Below is a  link to a terrific blog post about "What Piano Lessons Are For".  Please take the time to read and let me know which ones best match your beliefs about what the benefits of lessons are.

Miss Lily

Congratulations to Miss Lily for her recent performance of "This Land Is Your Land" at her school meeting.  Lily started this piece on her own during a wintery snow day and informed me her goal was to play it at a school meeting.  Not only did she achieve her goal, but she also performed it in her National Piano Guild Audition from memory.  Way to go Lily!

Pizza Party & Class

Above our photos from our 2014 Pizza Party / Class.  All of our students had a fabulous time!  We ate, we learned, we played games and played our two favorite songs for each other!  It was a ton of fun to see the kids get to know one another and listen to them share their piano successes!

Practice tips

This is the time of year when people are outside and soaking up the sunshine!  People are traveling and filling up their gas tanks for summer road trips!  I am too!  However, this can make practicing the piano a little more challenging.  Below is a link on how to "fill your child's piano practice tank".

Practice reminders

All of us need reminders now and again for all sorts of things!  For example, I make a grocery list to remind myself of the things I need to pick up when I am at the store.  Well, our students need reminders too!  We live in a busy world and have many things to manage all at once.  Here is a great list of reminders for practicing the piano.

My inspiration

I was handed this newspaper clipping from a student of mine who is 85 years old.   Neither of us ever met the lovely woman that this article was written about.  However, we were both truly inspired.  I hope you are inspired too...

Master Trevor

This morning, I had the honor of teaching a lesson via FaceTime to Master Trevor.  Trevor had been a student with me in PA for several years.  Trevor is a very busy young man and opted to take some time off from lessons.  Trevor's sister continued with lessons so I still got the opportunity to say hello to him every once in awhile.  I keep up with his family through social media too.  But today, a much taller and excited Trevor sat at the piano.  He played his very best and told me he practiced and wanted to impress me.   Of course he did and it was great.  What I did not know was today was the exact date, one year later from when he had his last lesson.  Welcome back Trevor and Happy Anniversary?!?!

How to beat the summer heat...
