Miss Katelyn

Please join me in welcoming Miss Katelyn.  Katelyn will begin voice lessons with Stephen this week.  We are excited to see and hear Miss Katelyn singing her favorite songs soon!

Meet Leonardo, Our New Piano Instructor

Please join me in a warm welcome to Mr. Leonardo, our piano instructor who will travel to students' homes for lessons.

There is no grass growing under Leonardo -- a composer, pianist, organist, conductor, vocal coach, author, and father of four young boys.  Though music consumes most of his time, he is also fascinated by the art of cooking, in particular the cuisine of his ancestors, Southern Italian farmers going back many generations. (He shares some of their ancient recipes on his blog, "Pensieri Meridionali.")  Leonardo doesn't like the terms "culture" or "the arts."  For him, "arts" are "the things normal people did before the invention of TV." His ancestors were a case in point: though they couldn't read or write, they sang, played instruments, made wood carvings, built things, and cooked food that today would be considered "gourmet."

Master Roshan

I just had to share with you this terrific photo of Master Roshan "rocking it" during his lesson with our instructor, Mr. Dave.  Although I was not present when this photo was taken, I know Roshan AND Dave were having a lot of fun!  Good luck Roshan!  We cannot wait to see what you can play next!

Miss Caroline

Please join me in a huge round of applause for Miss Caroline!  Caroline completed the Level 1 Piano Adventures Series of Books yesterday.  She has already started working out of the Level 2A (Blue Books).  Caroline's favorite pieces from the Level 1 books were "I've Got Music" and "Russian Sailor Dance".  Caroline has performed in our Annual Winter Holiday Recital and at the local nursing home recitals.  Cheeseburgers are her favorite food, while purple is her favorite color.  When Caroline is not playing the piano, she enjoys playing ice hockey, drawing and her pet cats.

Miss Grace

Please join me in a huge round of applause for Miss Grace!  Grace completed her Level 3 Series of Alfred's Books last evening!  She has started to work from her Level 4 books!  Grace enjoys playing pop music by Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran on the piano.  She is looking forward to learning how to play the guitar soon.  Grace's favorite food is enchiladas and her favorite color is blue.  Lacrosse, track, tennis, skiing and reading are her favorite activities to do when she is not at her piano.  Many of you may recognize Grace as she was a lovely assistant for our Winter Holiday Morning Recital.  She is also a member of the National Piano Guild.
